The Nebraska Cornhuskers (17-13, 7-12) entered the final week of the regular season searching for a much-needed win. They clashed with Ohio State (17-13, 9-10) in a late Tuesday night road bout which ended in double overtime. Despite a historic night for Brice Williams, Nebraska fell to the Buckeyes 116-114.

Williams finished the night by scoring a whopping 43 points, going 16-of-29 from the floor, 5-of-9 from beyond the arc and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. He not only surpassed his career-best by 11 points but also set a new program record for points scored in a game.

But playing from behind and foul trouble overshadowed Williams’ career night along with Nebraska’s offensive showing. Ohio State held the lead for all of regulation until Williams tied the game with seconds left to force overtime. The Huskers did take hold of the lead in the first overtime, but Ohio State forced a second overtime and reclaimed it.

Nebraska also frequently sent the Buckeyes to the free-throw line, resulting in 32 points scored. The Huskers meanwhile finished 20-of-28 at the line but outshot Ohio State from the floor, going 41-of-77 over the Buckeyes’ 36-of-68.

Juwan Gary scored 24 points, shooting a sharp 9-of-12 from the floor, 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Connor Essegian racked up 16 points, finishing 5-of-13 from the floor, 3-of-7 from three-point range and 3-of-3 from the line.

Andrew Morgan rounded out the Huskers’ double-digit scorers, tallying 14 points after going 5-of-8 from the floor and 4-of-7 from the free throw line. He also co-led Nebraska in rebounds, alongside Gary, hauling in seven.

Nebraska currently sits in 12th in the Big Ten Conference but is only one game ahead of the USC Trojans and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Nebraska concludes the regular season at home against Iowa on Sunday morning. Tipoff is set for 11:30 a.m. CT on Fox.
