What is next for the Vancouver Canucks?
NHL Network: Elliotte Friedman on the NHL Network, when asked what is next for the Vancouver Canucks.

Brian Boyle: “Elliotte, what, what’s next for Vancouver? Is this a knock it down to the studs type thing? Is this conversations with maybe even a (Brock) Boeser or like I would look at a Conor Garland, if I’m a number of different teams. But they seem to have some term. Do they want to keep these guys, or they think, ‘hey, maybe, maybe it’s time to sort of just cut bait with everybody.’ Have you heard sort of what, what could go forward after the Quinn Hughes thing. We’re just going to burn it all the way down?
Friedman: “Or, you know what? Brian, I think it’s similar the Rangers. I think they’ll listen on just about anything. You know, (Elias) Pettersson has a no-move clause, and I think if you wanted to trade him, you’d have to convince him that it would be worth doing. You know, I looked into this the end of last week. The word I was getting is that everyone had heard was, he wasn’t looking to wave at this point in time, or wasn’t willing to wave right now.
But, I mean, you never know if you, if you, if you get something that you want to take to him and say, ‘Hey, we want to do this. Does the situation appeal to you at all?’ You never know what a player can say. Although I heard he wasn’t inclined to wave right now.
I think the Garland one is really interesting. Because first of all, I think he’s a really good player. I think, like you said, he could help someone. The other thing for the Canucks here is that on July 1st Garland gets control of the situation, gets a clause. He doesn’t have it right now.
So maybe it doesn’t happen now. Maybe it’s closer to a draft thing. But I’m curious to see if Vancouver is going to say here. You know, we want to do this while we still have control over the situation. I think Garland is a really good player. I think Vancouver would take it either way, keep them or deal them. But the one thing that stands out here is that they lose control on July 1st.
I think with Vancouver, they’re not really interested in moving many of their young players. I think they listen on their veterans, their UFAS. But I think they’re similar to the Rangers in the sense that if you have an idea, bring it to them and see how they feel.
