The Chicago Bears face their most consequential game of the season in Week 13 against the Philadelphia Eagles, a matchup that could shape the trajectory of their remaining schedule. Quarterback Caleb Williams delivered a strong performance in Week 12 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and is expected to assume a similar role Friday night in Philadelphia.

However, reports ahead of the game reveal a setback regarding Williams’ pursuit of franchise records. The Chicago Bears have never had a quarterback surpass 4,000 passing yards or record 30 touchdown passes in a single season across their 106-year history.

Current projections indicate that Williams is likely to fall short of both marks.

“Ahead of the Bears’ Week 13 Black Friday showdown at the Philadelphia Eagles, Williams has thrown for 2,568 yards and 16 touchdowns. So, Williams now needs 1,432 passing yards to reach 4,000. To do so, he needs to average 238.7 per game over the final six games. As for hitting 30 TDs, he needs 14 more and to average 2.3 per game. So unfortunately for Williams and the Bears history books, he’s not currently on pace for either mark as he’s averaging 233.5 yards per contest and 1.45 TDs a game,” NFL.com’s Grant Gordon wrote.

It remains feasible for Williams to break the Chicago Bears’ single-season records for passing yards and touchdowns, both set by Erik Kramer in 1995 at 3,838 yards and 29 touchdowns. However, maintaining the pace required to surpass those marks may prove difficult given the remaining schedule.

Following the Eagles matchup, Williams faces the Green Bay Packers twice, along with the Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, and Detroit Lions, presenting a demanding stretch that could impact his consistency. What stands out is how little Williams fixates on statistics. Instead of stressing over numbers, he leans into the small details and accountability that matter most.

His mindset allows teammates to play loose and trust themselves, creating an environment where growth happens naturally. If that attitude sparks a late-season push, the production could follow.
