The Ohio State Buckeyes are laughing all the way to the bank.
On Tuesday, ESPN college sports insider Pete Thamel reported Ohio State and JPMorgan Chase have entered a partnership “that is expected to yield OSU nearly $17 million per year” and includes jersey patches on all OSU athletics uniforms.
“An eye-popping number that’s expected to be an industry leader,” Thamel wrote.
It will also be an eyesore, but every program — even those with as many resources as Ohio State — is looking for additional revenue in a post-House vs. NCAA settlement landscape. In that regard, the Ohio State-JPMorgan Chase agreement sets a high benchmark for others to cross.
