Mercedes-Benz has reportedly made a decision on pursuing the repossession of Shilo Sanders’ car.

Last week, USA TODAY’s Brent Schrotenboer reported that Mercedes-Benz was seeking to take back Sanders’ $135,000 Mercedes, claiming that the University of Colorado product had stopped making payments on the car and held an outstanding balance greater than the trade-in value of the vehicle. The company was reportedly seeking relief from the court where Sanders filed for bankruptcy in 2023.

On Monday, Schrotenboer said Mercedes-Benz has changed its mind, filing a document on Monday saying it had withdrawn its motion for relief.

“It didn’t say why, but Shilo’s father and coach, Deion Sanders, said Friday that Shilo had fulfilled his financial obligations while acknowledging there was a ‘disruption in the payments process,'” Schrotenboer wrote. “The company could have decided to drop it if he recently paid what he owed.”

Deion Sanders had addressed Shilo’s financial issues, as well as his NFL Draft stock, during a recent media session.

“I know some other bull junk came out, but he fulfilled all his financial obligations. These issues appear to have risen due to disruptions in the payment process. This is from his attorney: ‘following the termination of Mr. Sanders online account access.’ So, he’s good. He’s good,” Sanders said.

As for Shilo’s bankruptcy case, which stems from a 2015 incident involving security guard at his former high school, that remains open.

Sanders previously filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in October 2023, facing nearly $12 million in debt. John Darjean, the former security guard, has filed multiple complaints attempting to prevent Sanders’ case from being discharged, which would result in the onetime FOCUS Academies employee only being able to recoup a small amount of the damages he is owed.
