Meet The Wife Of Kirk Herbstreit (1:13)

College football fans are disturbed by Kirk Herbstreit’s admission this week.

The ESPN college football and Amazon Prime NFL analyst made a disturbing admission while speaking at a recent conference. The 55-year-old college football analyst, who played collegiately at Ohio State – his dad coached for the Buckeyes, too – revealed that Will Howard received death threats.

Howard, an NFL Draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers, received death threats after sliding too late in a 32-31 loss at Oregon back in October of 2024.

“Will Howard, he took a knee against Oregon,” said Herbstreit during an appearance on The Learning Leader Show with Ryan Hawk.

“He played his a– off at Oregon. He took a knee because he lost the time. And he took death threats. It’s so insane that these people have a voice to get to you. And you have just got to somehow insulate yourself the best you can. Because it is brutal.”

College football fans are disturbed by Herbstreit’s admission on Monday.

“Not OK,” one fan wrote.

“Some fans are crazy,” another fan wrote.

“This is just disturbing,” one fan added.

Herbstreit has sounded off on Ohio State’s “lunatic fringe” in the past.

“The lunatic fringe at Ohio State is as powerful as anywhere in the country. It used to be eight to 10, I think it’s grown now to about 15 to 20. I’m sure they’ll be happy tonight, fired up about what the team did, but God forbid they lose to Oregon. They’ll want to fire [Day] again,” Herbstreit said during Ohio State’s College Football Playoff win over Tennessee.

“First Take tried to fire him. They thought he was done, so I’ll be excited to see what they talk about on Monday after this performance. They had him out, trying to find replacements. But here he is, he still has his hat on. He’s still coaching.”

Ohio State fans are among the most passionate in the country – and deservedly so – but clearly some cross the line.
