The 2026 Callaway Supersoft scored 74 and earned a C grade—Not Recommended. The final grade is dragged down by compression consistency that graded at C-minus with a spread that lands well below the database average.
Good Ball Rate came in at 92 percent.
Three of 36 balls were flagged as bad. Two were marked bad because of compression deviation and a third failed on visual inspection for uneven layer thickness.
Compression symmetry averaged 3.0 points, above the field average of 1.9. Compression consistency graded at C-minus with a delta of 13.5 points and a spread running from 40.3 to 53.8. That is a wide window for a ball positioned as a consistent performer for recreational golfers.
Diameter consistency graded at B-minus and was one of two relative bright spots alongside weight consistency. However, the sample showed a notable seam bias. There were 32 of 36 balls that measured thicker at the seam than at the pole.
If not for the compression consistency issues, the Supersoft’s manufacturing profile would read as closer to average. Weight and diameter both held up reasonably well. Compression
Compression is a measure of how much force is required to deform a golf ball. The higher the compression value, the more force required. Consistency in that value matters because a ball that compresses differently from shot to shot produces different results from shot to shot. Ball Lab measures every ball individually and tracks the average and the spread across the sample.
The 2026 Callaway Supersoft averaged 44, at the “very soft” end of our database. The fact that it’s soft isn’t the problem but as we’ve noted, softer balls are more difficult to manufacture consistently.
Compression consistency graded out at C-minus with a delta of 13.5 points and a spread running from 40.3 to 53.8. That is well below the database average of 9.7 and means there is meaningful variation in how individual balls perform off the face.
Ball Lab also measures compression symmetry which is distinct from the delta measurement.
Where the delta tracks variation across all 36 balls, symmetry tracks how evenly compression is distributed across three points on each individual ball. The Supersoft averaged 3.0 points of symmetry deviation, above the field average of 1.9. It was the weakest mark on the Ball Lab report card.

Weight
Weight is another metric we analyze in these Ball Lab tests. Even small differences in weight across a dozen can translate to inconsistent ball flight. Ball Lab weighs every ball to four decimal places.
