The 2026 Belgian Grand Prix had a total weekend attendance of 400,000 – the largest in Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps’ history on the F1 calendar.

Formula 1 has announced a weekend attendance of 400,000 at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for the 2026 Belgian Grand Prix. It is the largest reported figure in the circuit’s history on the World Championship calendar, and an increase of 11,000 on last year’s figure.

Kimi Antonelli extended his championship lead with victory in the 2026 Belgian Grand Prix, finishing ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen, who recorded the 300th podium finish for a Red Bull driver.

Formula 2, Formula 3 and Porsche Supercup all raced over the 2026 Belgian Grand Prix, while drivers made off-track appearances on stage in the Fan Zone throughout the weekend.

Largest Spa Attendance in F1 History

The 2026 Belgian Grand Prix marks the first time in the event’s history that weekend attendance has reached 400,000. Attendance figures at the event have more than doubled in the past decade, with three-day attendance having stood at just 165,000 in 2015.

Given its close proximity to the Netherlands and the fact that Max Verstappen is half-Belgian, the Belgian Grand Prix became a de-facto home race for the Red Bull driver before the Dutch Grand Prix returned to the calendar in 2021. Belgian Grand Prix attendance could be boosted once again next year, when the Zandvoort race will no longer be on the calendar.

Last year’s Belgian Grand Prix ranked as the fourth-best attended of the 24 races held in 2025, based on the attendance figures announced by Formula 1, local media and race promoters. It is likely to remain in the same position this year.

F1 Attendance in 2026 Reaches 3.5 Million

The 2026 Belgian Grand Prix slots in as the third best-attended race of the year to date, behind the British Grand Prix – which set a new record for the highest-attended F1 race weekend in history with 564,000 spectators over four days – and the Australian Grand Prix, which saw 484,000 fans pass through Albert Park’s circuit gates.

We estimate that attendance over the ten rounds held so far in 2026 stands at around 3.5 million, with most races reporting higher attendances than in the previous year. F1 is on course to equal its record of 6.7 million attendees in a single season, set in 2025, despite there being fewer rounds of the World Championship this year due to the cancellation of races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

It remains to be seen whether planned rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi later this year will be able to go ahead as planned. It is believed that a contingency plan being explored by Formula 1, should the races in the Middle East not be able to take place, involves hosting a second race in Barcelona and a return to Portugal for the final two Grands Prix of the season. The Portuguese Grand Prix is already signed up to return to the F1 calendar next year.

2027 Belgian Grand Prix to be Last Until 2029

Next year’s Belgian Grand Prix will be the final Formula 1 race to take place at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps until 2029. The circuit secured a longer-term future on the calendar by signing a rotational deal with Formula 1.

Announced in January 2025, the deal means that the race will not appear on the schedule in 2028 or 2030, but will continue to be held biennially until at least 2031. It will rotate with Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Dates for the 2027 Belgian Grand Prix have not yet been announced, but Formula 1 is expected to announce details of its 2027 schedule imminently. Tickets will likely be available soon after.
