Rangers fear Raskin exit now inevitable as Real Betis ready major move

It’s been a summer of chaos at Ibrox so far. Rangers wasted no time before commencing their business with the addition of Lawrence Shankland, before then welcoming Hearts manager Derek McInnes to accompany the Tynecastle captain.

Since then, the new manager has also welcomed his first signing in the form of Ross McCrorie. The right-back arrives to replace James Tavernier in a full-circle moment, having once been a young star in Glasgow.

The defender instantly expressed his delight after completing his return, telling the Rangers website: “I really enjoyed it down in England, it was a top top league, but the only way I would’ve come back to Scotland was for Rangers.

“To get the opportunity was a dream come true, and I am absolutely buzzing to get going. At the time, I had to leave, for me it was part of my development, I had to go and experience something new, to play in a team and try to develop myself as a player and a character, and it was a great experience and a great learning curve.”

McInnes also welcomed his new signing, saying: “Ross is someone I signed for Aberdeen from Rangers, and at that time he wanted to go out and prove himself, which I think says a lot for him.

“He has developed and improved as a player, he has got that added experience, he is a full international now, and he knows the club inside out.”

McCrorie is set to be an excellent signing and although more additions are expected at Ibrox before the end of the summer, they may be facing their first bad news of the summer, courtesy of one star.

Real Betis ready offer for Rangers star

As reported by Spanish outlet ElDesmarque, as relayed by Ibrox News, Real Betis are now readying an offer to sign Nicolas Raskin this summer, clearing out their squad to raise funds for the Belgian.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini has already given his seal of approval and that’s bad news for Rangers.

Those at Ibrox now believe that Raskin’s exit is extremely likely despite having been reluctant to cash in initially.

The midfielder’s exit would be a major blow for McInnes. He’d be losing one of his best players before he can even step foot in the technical area, and one that has received a lot of praise in recent years.

That said, every player has a price and if Real Betis or any other potential suitor can reach their reported £20m valuation, then the Gers are likely to cash in.

Why Rangers should sell Raskin

No one can deny Raskin’s quality. He is, on a technical level, one of the best around in the Scottish Premiership. But is that enough for Rangers to opt out of cashing in?

The Belgian is not at the level required to build around. Instead, he is someone that the Gers could move on from to fund other areas in a bitter-sweet moment.

With £20m ready to spend, the 49ers could give McInnes their full backing and finally turn Rangers into a club ready to dethrone Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership. It’s quite the sacrifice, but ultimately one that should happen this summer.
