While Newcastle’s trip to Old Trafford might steal plenty of the Boxing Day attention, we have a stacked festive schedule from up and down England’s elite.

With battles at both ends of the Championship table really starting to heat up, we are treated to a string of noteworthy showdowns.

So, for those of you looking to stick on a Boxing Day flutter, we have taken a glance at some of Friday’s most eye-catching English betting tips.

Friday, December 26th

BST 15:00 Coventry City vs Swansea City

While Coventry might have suffered play-off heartbreak last season, Frank Lampard’s men have shattered a string of records this time around.

Rightfully receiving a string of plaudits from up and down the country, the Sky Blues are leading the chase at the top of the Championship standings and they open Boxing Day holding a six-point buffer over the chasing pack.

Despite eventually settling for a 1-1 stalemate away at Southampton last time out, the former Everton boss finds the mood in his camp at a red-hot high.

Signing off November with a routine 3-1 victory against Charlton, Friday’s hosts have suffered just a pair of Championship defeats so far this season.

Rightfully regarded as the standout title contender this season, Lampard’s high-flying squad will be confident of making another statement here.

Likewise, gaining a fearsome reputation for their dominance on home soil, Coventry are unbeaten in all of their first 10 showdowns in the Midlands (nine wins, one draw).

Although Swansea might have opened up the 2025/26 campaign in the midst of a public crisis, they are certainly enjoying life under new boss Vitor Matos.

Making an immediate return to winning ways last weekend as they secured a stellar last-gasp 2-1 victory at home against bitter local rivals Wrexham, the Swans have won three of their previous four Championship appearances and they have skyrocketed themselves away from a looming relegation scrap.

However, despite enjoying what has become their most fruitful spell of the season so far, Friday’s guests have continued to show a string of glaring issues on the road.

Last seen on their travels getting hit with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Stoke, Swansea have lost all of their previous four consecutive showdowns outside of South Wales by an aggregate score of 10-4.

Likewise, falling to a 2-0 loss when they welcomed Coventry to the Liberty back in February, Matos’ resurgent squad look set for a stern examination.

Betting Tip: Coventry City win & Over 1.5 goals @ 19/20

15:00 Norwich City vs Charlton Athletic

Opening up the 2025/26 campaign in the midst of a record-breaking rut, Norwich are still trying to fully recover from what was a woeful start to proceedings.

While new boss Philippe Clement might have only arrived at Carrow Road last month, it appears that the former Rangers boss is offering some essential signs of life in Norfolk.

Despite suffering last-gasp heartbreak away at Preston last time out as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate away at the play-off dreamers, Norwich should take plenty of positives away from a gritty performance at Deepdale.

Securing a heavyweight Championship scalp earlier in the month as they secured a 2-1 victory at home against Southampton, Clement’s men are now sat within touching distance of skyrocketing their way out of the relegation zone.

Signing off November with a stellar 3-1 win against QPR, Friday’s hosts have tasted just a single defeat from any of their previous six consecutive Championship appearances and they will be smelling a potential opportunity here.

Managing to claim an essential boost last time out as they snatched a 1-0 victory at home against fellow strugglers Oxford, Charlton are desperate to find some much-needed stability.

However, despite enjoying what was an eye-catching flurry on either side of opening November, Nathan Jones’ camp have largely come crashing back down to earth and many around south London are looking over their shoulder at a potential relegation scrap.

With their sole focus on avoiding an immediate League One return, Friday’s guests have mustered just a sole win from any of their previous seven straight Championship outings.

Falling to a 1-0 loss when they last met Norwich back in January 2022 for an FA Cup showdown, the Addicks have also gained an unwanted reputation for their glaring issues on the road.

Including a 3-1 defeat at the hands of runaway leaders Coventry, the former Southampton boss has seen his squad register just a pair of points from any of their last five consecutive matchups outside of south London.

Betting Tip: Norwich City win @ 12/11
