Another Eubank Falls As Dynasty Nightmare Hits 14

Despite being one of British boxing’s most recognizable dynasties, the records of the Eubank family’s established professional fighters have repeatedly ended, or currently stand, with defeat.

Harlem Eubank became the latest member of the famous fighting clan to fall when David Papot handed him the second defeat of his career at the Copper Box Arena.

The Brighton welterweight was dropped once in the second round and twice more in the tenth before losing a unanimous decision by scores of 115-110, 113-111 and 115-109.

Papot recovered from being floored in the seventh round to claim the vacant IBF International welterweight title and deliver the latest setback to one of British boxing’s most famous surnames.

The result extended a remarkable sequence stretching across several branches of the Eubank boxing dynasty.

Taken together, Chris Eubank Sr., Peter Eubanks, Simon Eubanks, Nathanael Wilson, Chris Eubank Jr. and Harlem Eubank have now accumulated 14 defeats across the closing stages of their completed careers or current professional records.

For a dynasty built on world titles, extravagant entrances and the unforgettable personality of Chris Eubank Sr., the statistics are startling.

Chris Eubank Sr. Ends With Three Defeats

Eubank Sr. established the family name during a celebrated career that produced world championships at middleweight and super middleweight.

However, his final victory came against Camilo Alarcon in Dubai in March 1997.

Seven months later, Eubank lost a unanimous decision to Joe Calzaghe in their contest for the vacant WBO super middleweight title. He then moved into the cruiserweight division and suffered two further defeats against Carl Thompson.

Eubank dropped Thompson during their first meeting but lost a close unanimous decision. Their rematch ended after nine rounds when the ringside doctor advised that the contest be stopped because Eubank’s left eye had swollen shut.

Those results left the man who created the dynasty with three consecutive defeats at the end of his 52-fight professional record.

Other branches of the family endured even harsher conclusions.

Peter Eubanks recorded his final victory against Lenny Gloster in 1988 before losing his last four contests. Mickey Lloyd defeated him on points, Roy Rowland stopped him because of a cut and then beat him again on points before Gary Jacobs handed Peter another decision loss in his final appearance.

Simon Eubanks suffered an even more punishing ending.

After stopping Trevor Smith in September 1990, Simon endured four consecutive stoppage defeats against Glyn Rhodes, Andy Holligan, Paul Jones and Kevin Lueshing. His final three losses all came by knockout.

The Current Generation Joins The Sequence

Nathanael Wilson, known during his career as “Banks,” won eight of his eleven professional contests but has not fought since Stu Greener stopped him in the third round in January 2020.

Chris Eubank Jr. appeared to have restored momentum to the dynasty when he defeated Conor Benn by unanimous decision in April 2025.

Benn overturned that result seven months later at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eubank Jr. was dropped twice in the final round before losing heavily on all three scorecards, leaving another established member of the family with defeat as the latest result on his record.

Harlem has now joined that unwanted sequence following his loss to Papot.

After suffering his first professional defeat against Jack Catterall, Harlem rebuilt with a unanimous decision over Josh Wagner in Brighton. Papot then halted that recovery and left the 32-year-old facing another difficult rebuilding process.

Sebastian Eubank remains the only professional member of the family whose record ended with victory. He won two four-round contests between 2018 and 2019 before his tragic death in 2021, although his brief involvement never developed into an established professional boxing career.

The Eubank name remains one of the most recognizable in British boxing history, but the records now reveal an uncomfortable reality stretching from the dynasty’s greatest champion to its current generation.

Another Eubank has fallen, and the dynasty’s nightmare now stands at 14 defeats across the closing stages of its established professional records.
