Mark Bowman of. MLB.com is reporting this morning that rehabbing outfielder Ronald Acuña, Jr. may play in both of today’s Gwinnett Stripers games after last night’s contest was unable to be played due to inclement weather and thus he return to the big league roster could be delayed until Monday.
Coming into Friday, it was expected that Acuña, Jr. would return during this weekend’s series against the Baltimore Orioles. If his activation occurs on Monday, it would be against the New York Metropolitans.
Acuña, Jr. has played in only 53 games with Atlanta this season but was third on the team in wRC+ prior to last night’s game. His returns would bolster a Braves team whose offense has rebounded after the All-Star break but cratered in June and early July when the team saw its double-digit division lead dwindle to a handful of games.
He went on the 10-IL on June 10th with a left hamstring injury.
