The Barons were must-see TV on Thursday.
Drew Thorpe was impeccable in his rehab appearance and Caleb Bonemer left the yard once again as Birmingham cruised to a 7-1 win. The Knights also grabbed a win thanks to Eric Haase‘s big day at the plate.
Elsewhere, offense was a rarity. The Dash, Cannon Ballers, and DSL White Sox combined for just three runs in losses.

Triple-A Charlotte Knights (58-47)
Eric Haase seems to be settling in well in Charlotte. The recently signed catcher homered, doubled, and drove in five of the Knights’ six runs on Thursday.
Haase put the Knights ahead 3-0 with a bases-clearing double in the first inning, and put the team back in front with a two-run home run in the fifth. Riley Unroe went deep in the ninth to provide some insurance.
The bullpen strung together five scoreless innings after Shane Smith departed. Tanner McDougal struck out two over two innings, while Jairo Iriarte, Jaden Woods, and Zach Franklin also contributed scoreless frames.

Double-A Birmingham Barons (39-60)
It’s safe to say that Drew Thorpe is eager to get back to Chicago.
The rehabbing right-hander dazzled across four scoreless innings, conceding just one hit while walking none and striking out five. Thorpe needed just 43 pitches to get through four innings, and 31 of his offerings were strikes.
Not to be outdone, Caleb Bonemer went deep for the third time in his last two games. The infielder now has 27 home runs on the year, nine of which have come with the Barons. Colby Shelton also went deep in the win, drilling his 19th longball of the season.

High-A Winston-Salem Dash (54-45)
Dash hitters drew eight walks on Thursday, but when coupled with just three hits and 15 strikeouts, their patience at the plate resulted in only a single run in an 8-1 loss to the Brooklyn Cyclones.
Winston-Salem scratched its lone tally on, what else, a Javier Mogollon bases-loaded walk as the Cyclones tagged starting pitcher Tommy Vail for seven hits over three innings.

Single-A Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (49-50)
Like the Dash, the Cannon Ballers also had trouble plating runs in their 6-2 loss to the Salem RidgeYaks. Kannapolis got on the board thanks to a Billy Carlson groundout and a Nick McLain sac fly.
The RidgeYaks scored four runs off of starter Gabe Tanner, but couldn’t touch 2026 UDFA Grant Cleavinger. Cleavinger struck out one during a perfect ninth, and now has two scoreless innings under his belt since the Sox picked him up earlier this month.

If the Dash’ and Cannon Ballers’ offensive struggles weren’t enough, the DSL Sox faced similar issues themselves, falling 5-0 to the DSL Mariners.
The Sox tallied just five hits — all singles — in the loss. Felix Lebron accounted for two hits on his own, while Jose Suarez drew a pair of walks.
