With the All-Star Game now in the rearview, the Futures League is approaching the final weeks of its regular season.
Wednesday night’s midsummer showcase featured an exciting finish, as St. Sebastian’s grad and Lowell Spinners catcher Brett Gallo (Needham, Mass.) hit a walk-off, two-run single to lift the Bikers past the Hikers in an aptly named matchup at Historic Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H.
The regular schedule resumes this week with the Vermont Lake Monsters holding a commanding first-place lead over the New Britain Bees, but the remaining five teams in the standings are separated by just five games.
Following the All-Star break, we take stock of the goings on across the league and highlight local performers from the summer so far. Like all of our All-NEBJ rosters, the following players are New England natives and/or play their college baseball in the region.
