Manchester United are looking to become the next club to take advantage of the chaos unfolding at Newcastle United, launching an offer to sign Francesco Pio Esposito.
The Red Devils have already kept themselves busy in the summer transfer window, welcoming Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow. Now, they’re on the hunt for further reinforcements.
Names like Lewis Hall have threatened to steal the headlines on that front, as United go in search of their long-term replacement for Luke Shaw. That, however, is not the only blow that United are looking to deal the Magpies.
They’ve also got Esposito in their sights. The Inter Milan man is full of potential at 21 years old and would add yet more backup to Michael Carrick’s frontline.
Man Utd’s potential attack 26/27
Benjamin Sesko
Sesko is primed for an impressive season following his debut campaign last time out. The towering striker was often used from the bench last season, but managed 12 goals in all competitions. Now, at 23 years old, he should be at the centre of Carrick’s frontline.
Matheus Cunha
Another name ready for an impressive season is Matheus Cunha. He was arguably Man United’s signing of the summer last time out, with 14 goal involvements. In a team designed to win the ball back quickly and counter, the Brazilian is destined to be a key figure for some time.
Bryan Mbeumo
Mbeumo initially enjoyed a rapid start to life at Old Trafford, but some question marks have crept in since. Still, this is a player who was involved in 15 goals in all competitions.
Marcus Rashford
Back from an excellent loan spell at Barcelona, Rashford has the chance to earn redemption at Man United. If all goes well, the Red Devils will have one of the most exciting wingers in Europe on their hands. Alas, a lot of work needs to be done to fix that relationship.
Francesco Pio Esposito
Esposito is an interesting one. Whilst a lot of work needs to be done before he can become a Man United player, the potential is certainly there. The Inter star has been involved in 18 goals in 50 games for the first team in Italy and is destined for big things.
INEOS weren’t afraid to invest in Man United’s frontline last summer and although there are other priorities needed first, Esposito is one to watch.
Man Utd launch offer to sign Esposito
As reported by journalist Alfredo Pedullà and relayed by Sport Witness, Man United have launched an offer to sign Esposito from Inter Milan.
The young forward also has interest from Newcastle, who are willing to make a ‘significant’ investment to secure his signature. However, the Magpies have been dealing with bombshell after bombshell in the form of departures this summer – and now have to deal with the chaos of Eddie Howe’s sudden exit.
Whilst that should leave Man United in good stead to jump ahead of their rivals in the race, Inter are in no mood to entertain offers for their young forward, especially from those at Old Trafford.
United have been told in no uncertain teams the youngster is not for sale this summer, although it remains to be seen whether that is simply a firm negotiating tactic from the Italian giants.
