This is starting to become a thing with Srixon: an official, corporate-approved “leak” of a new product, complete with professional photography and a clue to where an enterprising gearhead might actually see them in person.
Sometimes those leaks are serendipitously timely.
Srixon is officially leaking that the 2027 editions of its ZXi5 and ZXi7 irons, along with an updated ZXiU utility iron, will be hitting the fairways of Minnesota this week at the 3M Open.
Serendipity enters the chat, however, because Srixon staffer Ryan Fox, the newly crowned Champion Golfer of the Year, had the new ZXi5 3-iron in his bag at Royal Birkdale. Fox also put the new for 2027 Srixon ZXi RKT LS+ driver and ZXi RKT 3-wood in his bag right before the Open Championship. Srixon gave us an official peekaboo at its new drivers a few weeks ago when they debuted on Tour at the Travelers. They didn’t tell us anything about the new fairway woods.
Regardless, it’s a great start for Srixon. The company has been trying long and hard to make headway with its drivers. Now it has a major in its hip pocket, and the driver hasn’t even been released yet.
While we covered the Tour-only driver drop a few weeks ago, the rest of this piece is going to focus on the new Srixon irons and what we know (and don’t know) about them.
Here’s what we know
As with the drivers, it’s not much. We have the above information, obtained via Srixon’s official corporate leak. We also have pictures, also obtained via the official corporate leak. Since we don’t have any product details, we’ll have to go the picture being worth a thousand words route.
Srixon doesn’t change for the sake of changing which, given their consistently strong iron performance, is a good thing. The basic shaping of both the ZXi5, ZXi7 and ZXiU remain the same as the 2025 models, more or less. They also didn’t change the naming convention, which is also smart as it builds brand identity through consistency.
There’s no reason for any sort of radical departure.
What we noticed right away is the i-Forged stamping on the hosel. Srixon introduced its new i-Forged process in the 2025 models. Srixon says it’s a proprietary technique called condensed forging where carefully shaped protrusions are pressed into key locations of the clubhead. The forging hammer then pounds those protrusions into those key areas.
According to Srixon, condensed forging alters the atomic patterns of the steel and makes those key areas stronger. That added strength allows Srixon to use a softer carbon steel while maintaining its strength.
The 2025 ZXi7 was forged with the Japanese equivalent of 1015 carbon steel. The 2025 ZXi5 and ZXiU were forged from 1020 carbon steel.
Mainframe and Pureframe IQ
If you look closely, you’ll also see that all three irons have added the IQ suffix to its Mainframe and Pureframe branding.
The ZXi5 and ZXiU feature Srixon’s Mainframe technology. It’s Srixon’s version of AI-designed variable face thickness for multi-piece construction.
Pureframe is different. The ZXi7 is a single-piece forging and, as such, can’t have AI-designed variable face thickness. In the ZXi7, Pureframe is structural. It’s a ridge forged into the body of the iron that places 80 percent more mass at the sweet spot.
Both technologies have the added IQ suffix so we can only suppose that both technologies have improved enough over the past two years to qualify for the extra letters after their names.

As the countdown to January’s annual Launch Season continues, you’ll see more OEMs getting their 2027 products out on Tour. For Srixon, we know you’ll be seeing these three again. We can only presume the ZXi4 line will also get an update. It’s not included here because it’s not played on the PGA Tour.
We should also see new Z-STAR golf balls from Srixon, as well as updated RTZ wedges from Cleveland.
Anyway, now it’s your turn. I know the imagery is scant and, no, we don’t and won’t have address pictures until January. Obviously, we don’t have any info on pricing, either.
