Soon, you can purchase a cold one and enjoy a Kansas State football game at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
Kansas State will introduce stadium-wide alcohol, including “beer, seltzers and canned cocktails,” beginning Saturday, Sept. 5 for its home football opener against Nicholls, the school announced on Thursday. Previously, alcohol sales and consumption were limited to the stadium’s designated beer gardens on the north/south tailgate terraces and the “Powercat Porch.”
Following Iowa State’s lead, Bill Snyder Family Stadium becomes the latest Big 12 venue to introduce wide-scale alcohol sales.
“This has been a topic that we have carefully researched for years,” Kansas State AD Gene Taylor said in a release. “We always want to keep our student-athletes and fans at the forefront of every decision we make, and that was the driver in this decision as well. While it will provide our department with additional revenue during this new era of collegiate athletics, it will also be a key piece in maintaining a competitive advantage by keeping more fans in their seats throughout the entirety of games. This is a big decision, and we will be prepared to adjust as we see fit in future seasons.”
Rules still apply: Intoxicated or alcohol impaired guests may be refused admission, and only two alcoholic beverages per ID may be purchased at a time, according to the FAQ portion of the release.
A 2023 article from ESPN reported over 80% of major football programs already offer some kind of alcohol sales inside their home stadiums. Assuming you have the resources to provide alcohol sales, it’s a hard revenue stream to pass up in today’s climate of high-dollar spending around Power Four football.
Baylor, BYU and Utah, as of the 2025 season, are the only schools in the Big 12 operating strictly dry campuses.
