Tottenham’s summer rebuild under Roberto De Zerbi continues to gather momentum, with several key deals already completed and more potentially on the horizon.

The only confirmed arrival so far has been Andy Robertson.

The Scotland captain officially joined Spurs from Liverpool this week, bringing vast experience and proven leadership to a squad De Zerbi is attempting to reshape following last season’s disappointing campaign.

Robertson’s arrival has been viewed as an important statement of intent, adding a player who has won every major club honour available during his time at Anfield.

Defensively, Tottenham have also made significant progress elsewhere.

Marcos Senesi is expected to become another addition after reports earlier this month indicated a deal had been verbally agreed.

The Argentine defender’s Premier League experience and comfort in possession are qualities believed to appeal strongly to De Zerbi.

Spurs are ready to pay a certain price.

Meanwhile, talks continue over Brighton centre-back Jan Paul van Hecke.

Reports from David Ornstein, The Telegraph and Dutch journalist Joost Blaauwhof have all indicated Tottenham are pushing hard to land the Netherlands international.

An opening bid was rejected by Brighton earlier this week, but discussions remain ongoing and there is optimism in north London that a compromise can eventually be reached.

Further forward, Savinho remains one of the club’s priority attacking targets.

Sky Sports recently reported that Tottenham are considering an imminent formal approach for the Man City winger, while separate reports have suggested the Brazilian is keen on the move and intrigued by the prospect of working under De Zerbi.

The Lilywhites have been very active since confirming their stay in the Premier League, and now an update has come to light on a potential permanent deal for Joao Palhinha.

Tottenham have ‘good chances’ to re-sign Joao Palhinha permanently

According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Palhinha is nearing a decision on his future, with Tottenham and Sporting CP currently the two clubs in the strongest position.

Plettenberg reports that discussions are ongoing and that Spurs have a genuine opportunity to secure the Portugal international’s signature.

However, the midfielder’s future is not yet settled, with Sporting continuing to push for a reunion.

The financial aspect appears to be the key issue.

According to Plettenberg, Tottenham are attempting to renegotiate the terms previously discussed with Bayern Munich.

The original purchase option attached to the deal was worth £22m guaranteed, potentially rising to £26 million through add-ons.

Spurs are hoping to reduce that figure.

That stance is understandable given the number of deals already being worked on this summer.

Tottenham are attempting to strengthen multiple positions simultaneously, meaning every saving could help elsewhere in the market.

Palhinha would represent a smart addition, though.

During his loan spell last season, the midfielder, who has been called a ‘beast’ by ex-Fulham teammate Andreas Pereira, was one of Spurs’ better players across 2025/2026 and played a key role in the north Londoners avoiding a drop to the Championship.

Those qualities could make him an ideal fit in De Zerbi’s evolving side.

While Tottenham possess creativity and technical quality in midfield, Palhinha would offer a different profile.

His proven ability to protect the defence and break up opposition attacks could provide valuable balance, particularly if Spurs continue to adopt the aggressive, possession-based approach associated with their head coach.

The fact that a decision is expected soon will encourage Tottenham supporters.

Plettenberg’s report suggests negotiations are progressing, and Spurs are currently well-placed despite competition from Sporting.

Much may now depend on whether an agreement can be reached with Bayern over the final financial details.
