Will KC Concepcion’s NFL Draft stock take a hit after injury news?

Texas A&M Aggies wide receiver KC Concepcion has had a medical issue surface before the 2026 NFL Draft (scheduled for April 23-25 in Pittsburgh).

On Monday, NFL Media insider Mike Garafolo reported Concepcion underwent a “routine and preventative” knee scope last week. Dallas Cowboys team doctor Daniel Cooper performed the operation. This isn’t expected to impact his availability for rookie minicamp, which should begin in May.

How KC Concepcion injury news impacts his NFL Draft stock

Teams should do their homework on Concepcion’s knee before they consider spending a pick on him. But since it doesn’t seem to be a major issue, like an ACL tear, the injury shouldn’t cause him to fall during the draft.

Concepcion (6-foot, 196 pounds) is one of the better options for teams picking at the end of the first or beginning of the second round. NFL Mock Draft Database projects that the Buffalo Bills will take him with pick No. 28 in the first round. Bills QB Josh Allen wouldn’t mind if Buffalo added the Aggies star.

The Bills remain thin at WR even after acquiring DJ Moore in a trade with the Chicago Bears earlier this offseason. Buffalo WR Khalil Shakir led the team in receiving yards last season (719, No. 44 in NFL). Moore, meanwhile, logged a career-low 682 receiving yards in 17 games for Chicago.

In 2025, Concepcion ranked fifth in the SEC in receiving yards (919) and tied Tennessee Volunteers WR Chris Brazzell II for the conference’s most touchdown catches (nine). For his efforts, he was named a first-team All-American.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein’s comp for Concepcion is former Seattle Seahawks wideout Doug Baldwin, who made two Pro Bowls in eight seasons with the NFC West team.

“Concepcion offers immediate burst and separation into space,” wrote Zierlein in his scouting report. “Concepcion’s ability to quickly uncover should be very appealing to teams with spotty protection and a young quarterback.”

Concepcion undergoing a knee operation shortly before the draft isn’t great timing. However, teams shouldn’t pass on him for that. The injury doesn’t appear to be that severe, and clubs don’t want to miss out on adding someone who could fortify their receiving corps.
