Including an action-packed 3-2 win away at QPR on January 24th, Wrexham have suffered just a single defeat from any of their previous seven appearances across all competitions. Likewise, Tuesday’s hosts should also be excited by their clinical performances in the final third. In fact, Parkinson’s camp have bagged 51 goals in their 33 Championship showdowns this season and they hold the second-best attacking tally in the division.
As for the visitors, although Portsmouth might have opened the New Year at the heart of a Championship relegation scrap, John Mousinho’s side have made a string of improvements over the past couple of months. Now securing consecutive 3-1 victories against Millwall and Charlton, Tuesday’s guests have come skyrocketing away from the drop zone and they travel to Wales in midweek holding a six-point buffer over the relegation spots. Signing off January with an empathic 3-0 romp at home against West Brom, Pompey are more than capable of asking some serious questions here. In fact, Mousinho’s men have lost just a pair of their previous eight Championship appearances – a run that stems back to New Year’s Day. Winning their last two showdowns away from Fratton Park by an aggregate score of 6-2, Portsmouth are suddenly enjoying what has become their most fruitful spell of the 2025/26 campaign and we could be set for an enjoyable battle on Tuesday.
